Develop Africa's team comprises of dynamic, dedicated, forward-thinking and compassionate individuals who desire to make an impact and effect a lasting transformation in the lives of individuals in Africa. Develop Africa works in partnership with businesses, non-profit organizations and charities, and individuals all around the world who are trained in and specialize in development work in Africa. The backgrounds of our staff and partners range from full-time work experience in international development to advanced degrees in business and development.

Avis Dillard-Bullock is the Senior Vice President of Program Services for JMA Solutions, retired from the United States Air Force (USAF) after 28 years of outstanding service. She has more than 20 years experience in project and program management, leadership and process improvement.   She directs JMA Solutions’ Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), State Department, and other contracts, and manages program groups including more than 135 employees and numerous subcontractors. Previously she held strategic level leadership positions for the United States Air Force as the senior advisor to the Air Force Judge Advocate General, the Air Force Claims Service Center, led a regional office for the USAF Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and served as Operations and Program Manager at USAF Langley.


James Ramey

James Ramey joined Develop Africa, Inc. in early 2016 as a volunteer blog editor and blog moderator. He holds a Bachelor of Science in technical communication from Arizona State University. He also holds associate degrees in general business management, arts and humanities, and automotive technology. After graduating from Universal Technical Institute in Arizona, James started his career as a Jaguar technician in Sacramento, CA. He is currently a technical editor for ALLDATA, an automotive repair data publisher based near Sacramento. James lives with his wife and two hound dogs.

Sylvester Renner is passionate about effecting permanent change and making a mark in Africa that cannot be erased.  He is the co-founder and president of Develop Africa. Mr. Renner holds a master's degree in business administration (MBA), with a specialization in information technology. He has over 15 years of strategic, hands-on experience in project management, small business development, business analysis, information technology implementation, and web development and consulting.  Mr. Renner has worked full-time with RURCON/RUDERSERV (in partnership with Catholic Relief Services (CRS)) and with NGOs implementing food and nutrition programs in Western Area, South and Eastern Provinces of Sierra Leone. He has also worked in literature development and reading promotion. Mr. Renner is semi-fluent in French and widely traveled internationally.  You can follow Sylvester on twitter @sylrenner.

Phillip Sholes is a current Navy Flight Surgeon serving the busiest airport in the world (by flight hours per year). Stationed in Florida, Phillip continues to have an interest in international development and specifically investing in children's education. Phillip had the opportunity to travel to Freetown, Sierra Leone several years ago to see first hand the impact Develop Africa is having in the communities where they are working and the passionate and dedicated team members who are on the ground.
Phillip's international interest was cultivated while attending Elon University and further strengthened while attending medical school at VCU School of Medicine (Medical College of Virginia).

Janet Tucker
holds a joint honors degree in French and English from the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College, and a Master in Development from the United Kingdom. Janet is a leader who is passionate about sustainable development and human rights issues, especially as it relates to women and girls.

Asongayi Venard has been with Develop Africa, Inc. since January 2012. He holds two bachelor degrees: one in medical laboratory science from the University of Buea, Cameroon, and the other in philosophy awarded by the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, Italy. He likewise holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in planning and development from East Tennessee State University. He has worked at the zoning office in Washington County, Jonesborough, TN, and as a research consultant for NASA Develop. He is currently the Development Coordinator at the City of Johnson City, TN. He lives with his family in Johnson City, TN.
